Privacy Policy

How Megabyte IT Solutions collects, uses, and protects your information when you visit our website or engage our services.

Effective Date: April 10, 2026

01. Who We Are

Megabyte IT Solutions (“Megabyte,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is a managed IT services provider based in Broussard, Louisiana, serving businesses throughout the Acadiana region since 2007. Our website is located at megabyteitsolutions.com.

This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information collected through our website, contact forms, and any communications you initiate with us. It does not govern data we process as part of a managed services agreement with a client — that is addressed in the applicable service agreement and data processing addendum.

02. Information We Collect

We collect information in two ways:

Information you provide directly:

  • Name, business name, email address, phone number, and city — submitted through contact, quote request, or lead capture forms on our website
  • Details you share when emailing or calling us, including support inquiries
  • Information exchanged during onboarding or account setup for managed services

Information collected automatically:

  • Browser type, operating system, and device type
  • IP address and approximate geographic location
  • Pages visited, time on site, and referring URLs
  • Cookies and similar tracking technologies (see Section 5)

We do not collect sensitive personal information such as Social Security numbers, payment card numbers, or health data through this website.

03. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Respond to inquiries, quote requests, and support questions
  • Provide and manage IT services you have engaged us for
  • Send service-related communications (invoices, renewal notices, maintenance windows)
  • Follow up on sales conversations or proposals at your request
  • Improve our website, content, and service offerings
  • Comply with legal and regulatory obligations

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it to serve third-party advertisements.

04. How We Share Your Information

We share your information only in limited circumstances:

  • Service providers: We work with vendors that help us operate our business — including our CRM, PSA platform, email, and cloud storage — who are contractually required to protect your data and use it only on our behalf.
  • Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or governmental authority.
  • Business transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify affected parties before data is transferred and becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
  • With your consent: We will share information in other circumstances only with your explicit permission.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for their own marketing purposes.

05. Cookies & Tracking Technologies

Our website may use cookies and similar technologies to recognize returning visitors and understand how people use our site. These include:

  • Essential cookies: Required for basic website functionality.
  • Analytics cookies: Help us understand visitor behavior in aggregate (e.g., Google Analytics). Data collected is anonymized where possible.

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling cookies may affect certain features of the site. We do not use advertising or retargeting cookies.

06. Data Retention

We retain personal information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purpose for which it was collected, maintain our business records, and comply with applicable legal requirements.

Contact form submissions and sales inquiries are typically retained for up to three (3) years. Client records associated with a managed services agreement are retained in accordance with that agreement and applicable law. You may request deletion of your information at any time (see Section 8).

07. Data Security

Protecting data is our business — we take it seriously for our own operations as well. We implement administrative, technical, and physical safeguards appropriate to the nature of the information we handle, including:

  • Encrypted communications (TLS) for data in transit
  • Access controls limiting who can view personal information
  • Endpoint detection and response (EDR) on all company devices
  • Multi-factor authentication on business accounts
  • DNS filtering and advanced email security

No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. If you believe your information has been compromised, please contact us immediately.

08. Your Rights & Choices

You have the right to:

  • Access: Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
  • Correct: Ask us to update inaccurate or incomplete information.
  • Delete: Request deletion of your personal information, subject to any legal retention obligations.
  • Opt out of marketing: Unsubscribe from any promotional emails using the link in the message, or by contacting us directly.

Louisiana residents may have additional rights under state law. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the information in Section 11. We will respond within 30 days.

09. Children’s Privacy

Our website and services are directed at businesses and business professionals. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 13. If you believe a minor has submitted information through our site, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Effective Date” at the top of this page. For material changes, we will provide notice via our website or by direct communication where appropriate. Your continued use of our website after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
